Re: 1972 Pinceton Reverb problems
It's simple enough to disconnect the reverb tranny: unsolder the red wire from the eyelet between the second pair of 100k plate resistors. May as well pull the 12AT7 too. Now it's a Princeton Reverb without reverb. Disconnect the tank too. If the amp behaves normally, we can then focus on what part of the reverb circuit is misbehaving.

Pulled the tube, disconnected the pan and the red tranny wire. She works great. Doesn't start to clip till about six with buckers...and even then it's not the nasty splatter sound.
Sounds like it is a verb circuit issue.

Turns out it was the reverb transformer. Dropped a new hammond in it and BAM!...works great. I about killed the 6V6s from it though when I threw them in my express for a minute. Yikes! But the amp sounds like it should now.Leo_Gnardo wrote:Why why why suspect the reverb transformer? Oh, my car won't start. Blame the windshield.

I'm the last one to call someone a dunce! I'm still quite the newb round here. I've gotten a lot more help than I've contributed that's for sure.
