OT for 5G9 tremolux

Post by jezzbo »

Hi all, I'm planning on building a 5G9 tremolux (2X6V6)
But I'm not sure what OT I should use.
A friend suggested to use a bigger OT than a deluxe for more headroom.
But what about primaire impendance?
Doesn't the 5G9 need an OT with 8K primary?

The secondary of the OT needs to be 4Ohm since I'm gonna use 2X10 speakers (in a Narrow panel tweed super cab)

I allready going to use a bigger PT since I'm gonna use a 5E5/5E7 chassis.
The cutout for the PT is bigger then needed a assume.

thanks.

I think this one will do nicely: http://www.classictone.net/40-18090.html

thanks Martin.

About the PT then.
According to the schematic the DC voltage at the choke should be 370V.

So I assume that this would be an appropriate PT, no?

(I'm using a 5E5/5E7 chassis)

What about the choke?

Thank you.

never mind about the choke.

The PT you linked to will certainly work, but I think you might end up higher than the schematic voltage, a rough guess is maybe around 400.

Thanks. Do you know a better PT that is the same (mounting) size?
Or maybe I could add a resistor to pull down the voltage?

Sorry I miss read the 5E5/5E7 chassis requirement ... since that's a Pro PT rated at 200mA the lower voltage taps (~305V) may be fine with the reduced circuit load
