Need an amp for a metal dude.
Not really into metal, but my sister and her son are visiting me in Seattle. He's into metal, and just got a B.C. Rich Warlock [something, something, signature guitar by some heavy metal player]. He was shocked to learn I am friends with Karl Sanders of Nile (saviors of death metal), and even credited on their first album.
I want to build him an amp, but don't have a clue what metal players are into, other than cookie monster voices.
Any suggestions?
"Me want cookie!" (in a death metal voice).

That ain't metal. Metal screams like a banshee and wants you to know the devil is a joke. Cookie monster wants you to know that he needs a sip of milk.
How about a dual rec?

Wait, metal dudes like a messy bugger dual rectum frier?

Cookies are popular everywhere. Cookie monster sounds like someone being hoovered up the backside.

My nephew informed me there is now "Viking Metal."
I asked him if any lutefisk were harmed, but he didn't get it.

It's also a big letdown finding out that Viking helmets didn't have horns.

Sure they do. Dairy Vikettes don't have horns.

Well, the Dual Rec is a bad copy of the SLO, so I think you're right. But, an SLO is not really as metal as it gets. I think an Engl or Splawn style circuit could do really high gain metal better. But seriously, if you know Nile, ask their guitarist!

LOL, Karl is always on tour. My nephew was impressed. But I'm afraid Karl might suggest solid state. He doesn't use a fucking volume pot in his guitar, how fucked up is that.Gaz wrote:Well, the Dual Rec is a bad copy of the SLO, so I think you're right. But, an SLO is not really as metal as it gets.
