Schematic for Vox AC30C2

Post by Blindog »

Hey all,

I recently picked up a new Vox AC30C2 via some horse trading. This is the latest iteration of the AC30 from Vox...no choke or rectifier tube, normal and top boost channels, shared tremolo and reverb, master volume and an effects loop. Hardly an AC30 from a purist's view, but I must say it sounds pretty damn good out of the box....but I think it could be better with some tweaks and some good tubes.

I'd like to upgrade some of the caps and resistors in the tone path, and the schematic would make this process a whole lot easier than tracing the circuit from the pc board.

There's plenty of info and schematics for the AC30 Custom Classic series, but I've found nothing out on the web for the AC30C2. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark

Looks like I'll have to try to trace the signal path on the pc board. At least the preamp board came out without too much trouble! The caps are no problem to identify and swap, but the resistors are another story. It's hard to make out some of the color codes with them being so small and the blue body color...gotta get a magnifying glass. That's what I really wanted the schematic for...R47, 10k...check!

I'm also thinking about installing a choke while I'm at it...and maybe a Woden clone OPT...Hmm

Hey Mark,

Here's a schematic for the AC-15c1: https://app.box.com/s/n4rogzmzmt2i7dsubfno

I believe this is similar to the c2, but with 2 less output tubes and no high/low impedance -only single inputs for each channel. Component designation may be different as well.

Thanks for that link!...I actually ran across that same one, but the component designations are different...I do believe the preamps are similar tho..

Thanks Zippy, I didn't realize Hoffman's site had that schematic section...seems like I get a new nugget from there more often than not!

Still no AC30C2 schemo :( Seems like every other version is there tho!

Thanks again for the links.

I fixed one a couple weeks ago, I used the same schematic Masco suggested.

All the best.

I think I can transpose what I need from the AC15C1 schematic...looks pretty much the same, the parts numbering is different, but I should be able swap out what I need by looking at the schemo and back to my board.
Many thanks!

Best regards,

Mark
