Re: Dumbelator
That PT looks large is the cutout going to work on that back rail?
Re: Dumbelator
Thanks. Triad R-2C PT.
Re: Dumbelator
Triad R-2C PT Where the hell did you find one of those? I tried a bunch of surplus listings but no luck.
Re: Dumbelator
Mark, I looked for years when I did find one I was out bid.
A friend moved back to town she wanted me to attend Ham Fest
Found one NOS in the box then I sent it out and had it cloned.
It cost stupid money. The cut out is 1 1/6" H x 1 1/2" W.
Steve.

Re: Dumbelator
Although I think it is very cool that Steve had the Triad cloned..I have built many D-lators using all kinds of different transformers including the 2-C the one Dumble used and to be perfectly honest I have a difficult time telling them apart..In fact the one I use the most has a Hammond in it not the 2C..As long as it handles the current rating of 1 preamp tube and the voltages are close the type of transformer is really not at all audible in a single tube D-lator IMO...The type of cabeling used has a much greater impact..
Build on Steve!

Re: Dumbelator
Darin, you know what I'd go with for the PT... Allen TP2X, FWB, and 3x 33uF filters. https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... ight=twist
The Triad unit was commonly used in VTVM's, and most likely HAD just used what was readily available in a small PT. I don't know why anybody would want the PT hanging out the back (cloning excepted); there was just no other way using that PT.

Re: Dumbelator
I had searched for that same transformer and found one place but it was several hundred dollar!
That Dumbleator is going to turn out great.
You will love the way it works with your amps.

I had completely forgotten about that build.
Really nice unit...thanks again for sharing.

Re: Dumbelator
Martin Manning's D-Lator is great nice and compact.
I had the transformers over spec so two 12ax7 can be used.
Never used a D-lator I have been using a preamp from a old Yamaha delay and a DBX 1215 EQ
in the efx loop works fine for me. Using three 100 watt ODS amps with channel switching.
As I can afford it I will build 4 D-Lators for my rack 3 each 100 watt amps and a 150 watt amp.
I just do this for fun so don't rail me to hard.

looks like some work moving from gig to gig.
I'm thinking you will notice the lator's in a good way.

I have 2 D-lators in separate racks 1 is loaded with RG-400 and has a Hammond (forget the model #) it's in a 2 space rack along with my Lexicon LXP-15..I use this rack for my larger rooms where I can push the amp a bit
The other one has Beldon 1082 Shielded 110 ohm audio cable with a much higher PF rating and a Fender (stand alone reverb transformer) and another Lexicon reverb unit..This setup is a bit darker in tone so I use this rack for the smaller rooms with some Dumble style and a few VVT's Ive built..
..Essentially you could just use different cable lengths to achieve the same goal but since I use different type verb settings for different type rooms and sounds I just set up 2 different type racks..Also to have a backup if 1 goes out..
Hope this answers your question
