Specing a PT for a #102 build

I'd like to spec my PT for manufacturing at my local store.

I thought about something like this:

Ang, this would be fine if all you are going to run is a couple of low current relays and maybe a quad of EL34's

14-0 @ 500mA
3.15-0-3.15 @7A

What is the dedicated 60V winding for? Bias?
Why not just have a 60v tap on your HT Secondary similar to a Std Twin transformer?

I'd go higher on the HT winding. I've found 340-340 to 345-345 winds up about right VDC-wise under load.

You could, but I bet the only reason Fender did itbwas to decrease unit cost. I like having an isolated bias winding independant of the HT winding .

Interesting. I never thought of it from the cost saving perspective.
What is the advantage of having the separate winding?

it's the same price all around here, since this market is mostly dead here in Israel, specing 7A current or 10A current is the same and i figure one day i might switch to EL34s, so why not.

I like having seperate windings too.

Ang, there is more to than it costs the same. You reach a point where you can only get so much wire on a certain frame size. I've had quite a few custom power transformers made and I have a design which pretty much maxes out the Twin PT frame, so I kind of have an ideal.

You don't need 10A to run a quad of EL34's.

You want to make sure that it will fit your existing PT mounting centers and hole cut out, my point being is that you don't want to create an unnecessary bump in the road, just because it cost the same.
