Marshall 1974x Head Build... Purchasing Question

Post by cap217 »

I want to buy this. Not sure who built it but it looks like Weber xformers. What does this look like to you? Quality or should I pass?

Some things I recognize as Weber kit (the brown board with split turrets, the yellow caps which are not Mallory), some things not (that massive speaker impedance selector). Looks like a mixed bag of parts. So, not HIGH quality, but OK. You should play it and see what you think!

Looks like a straight Weber Kit Build, their boards, txfmrs, and I remember the elon brand cap from a weber 18W kit I had awhile back.

Depends on the price and what you are looking for.
The parts choices aren't what I would use when starting a 18W, but the build quality looks good.

I thought those were mallory caps. I cant play it, I would have to hope it sounds good and just buy it. Comes with a nice repro marshall head box though.

What would you price this at?

Here is the one I worked on:

Def not Mallory caps, unless Weber is relabeling to make them look generic!

Amp sounded pretty good, but had more hum than I like.

Is this a Weber 6M18 kit? Looks like a TMB 18w amp.

It looks like its a weber and the kit if $495 with the head box and tolex. Im sure thats what this is. He is asking $550 but not knowing anything about the build I will pass.

Looks like I see the trem caps, so I don't think its a TMB. :)

I see one of Gabi's amps in the background..

Looks great.
