Re: What're you listening to right now??
Someone mention "Tull?" Oh yes indeed. First album "This Was" gets a weekly playing here. When it first came out, stores didn't know whether to put it in the Jazz or Rock stacks. Not too many albums have a "claghorn" solo, maybe just this one. They put a sax mouthpiece on a bamboo flute & bob's your uncle. Lots more "is it rock or is it jazz" moments on "ThisWas."
Guitar player in my first college band was a fan of Mick Abrahams, and even made his own 9-string guitar so he could "play those parts." I was going to announce 2 months ago that it was Mick's 70th birthday (April 7), but that was the day news was going 'round about the demise of Andy Johns. Who coincidentally was producer of Blodwyn Pig, Mick's band post-Tull. So, for those unfamiliar with Mick Abrahams, there's at least 2 terrific albums to get an earful of this rarely heard & very tasty guitarist, Tull's "This Was" and Blodwyn's "A Head Rings Out."
In Hamburg I got a copy of 1994 "Lies" from Blodwyn Pig & Mick was still tearin' it up.
Must find more. I know it's out there, just gotta spend.
FWIW I'm a big fan of Tull's first 4 albums mostly. Maybe I'm "Living in the Past..."

Thick as a Brick is also a favorite of mine.
Right now, though, it's "Inca Roads" (from 'One Size Fits All'). Frank's solo is bloody amazing! And George's vocals are also outstanding.

Can't explain it but late night talk radio puts me in the zone for working on amps.
Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis is my fave, podcast during the day

Okay. The music on this sucks but the video is fun to watch. Someone better at math than me may be able to do the ratios of the frequencies and 'splain it to us. I just enjoyed the patterns.

A speaker cone does the same thing but in a less visible manner.LeeMo wrote:Okay. The music on this sucks but the video is fun to watch. Someone better at math than me may be able to do the ratios of the frequencies and 'splain it to us. I just enjoyed the patterns.

The music being played is not the same as the signal being applied to the 'display'.
The patterns are being generated by steady-state tones.
