Converted #124 circuit to #102 style
Nothing new...
Converted a 124 style circuit to the 102 style.
Kept the PPS but upped the filter caps to V1 and V2 to 40uf(2x80uf)
Might go to a classic style PS in the future, but it does sound decent.
Looking for a 400K or so Bass pot
Might try a LNFB switch.

Very nice! How's the bloom with the precision PS?
Re: Converted #124 circuit to #102 style
Darin that's a very nice looking build, keep up the good work my friend.

Thanks ColossalColossal wrote:Very nice! How's the bloom with the precision PS?
This circuit is another that at a decent volume I get bloom/feedback thing
with a lot of notes and guitars, at lower volumes it still has that ring or sustain thing, just with fewer notes. I am curious of the difference of the classic PS might sound. I may build one in the near future to compare.

I gotta say I'm liking this circuit better than the 124 lowplate.

Nice!
I put a switched pot on the presence that allows me to switch off the GNFB.
The amp opens up with more gain and crunch.
But I rarely play in that mode.
But it's nice to have the option and requires no new holes.

how does the tone differ from switching the GNFB off, versus switching
off the LNFB? You switching out a 4.7k. Must be pretty raw sounding in a good way?
I think I remember Tony's 102 style build not having the LNFB in the circuit. Not sure I remember a GNFB mod... sounds interesting.

Yeah my 102 doesn't have LNFB on V1 (stock ala 3k3 GNFB).. On my 2nd generation has a Vox cut control and no GNFB.. Mo gainer but still smooth and open.. Not for everyone but opened up ,what a fun amp that one is

Don't mean to drag this out...but would something like these
take me in the right direction for experimenting?

Derin, Nice clean build. I like the fet relay did you use a 10k pot on the face plate.
#102 gave me nothing but grief. I used the original filter board, no dumbleator
the wrong speakers. I spent one year changing pre amp parts. I learned a vast amount
of knowledge. That year was not time wasted. I for one like the PPS over the original.
I had the same problem with #183 50 watt, turn the volume up over 3 and it was out of control
I changed the pre amp values on that amp to no known values on any Dumble amp
I ended up with the Duane Allman live at the fillmore amp it just nails that sound with my Burst.
I have a real Black Flag Marshall I built a D style Black Flag 100 watt, used the same transformers.
used a mass array of speakers I was not happy until I went with a vintage Fane 12L the EV's didn't
cut it. Derin I tip my hat to you for a #102 build you are happy with.
Steve.

FET has a 10k pot up front
great learning story
Love Allman Bros.
Black Flag D style sounds really cool.
Wish I could get my hands on a vintage Fane.

Sure will..
BTW..Tube choice for me on the 2nd gen amps are Short bottle TAD's or better yet Blackplate RCA's and GE or RCA 12AX's and AT for PI..
Good Luck!!

It seems pretty subtle unless turned up quite a bit.
Don't use it much.
I think the LNFB on V1 actually helps the clean tone if clean is what you are after.
The GNFB switch on the Presence pot is a rotary switch, so when you turn the Presence down to 0 it turns off.
No Presence, no Feedback.
RAWK!
