Good, inexpensive 10" speaker

Post by Cliff Schecht »

I need a good deal (i.e. super cheap or free!) 10" speaker for that GA-15RVT I fixed. It came back to me recently because the 10" Oxfart I put in there seems to be rubbing or distorting in an unpleasant way (and really is just too bright for this amp). The amp itself sounds great through my other 1x12" cabs so I know at least the amplifier is where I want it to be.

I traded work for that Oxford and gave it to the GA15RVT owner to keep repair costs down so I was hoping to not have to charge him anymore for a replacement. He's spent enough on this amp (including $200 for all of my work to get it going again, it was a basket case before!) and while it's one of those "cost doesn't matter/nostalgia" style repairs, I don't want to keep asking money for this thing. Anybody have any recommendations for a 10" source on the cheap?

Found this on Fleabay. I'm not too familiar with Webers, though.

-1 on the MOD Jensen. Just my opinion...one of the worst speakers I ever heard....real harsh, very bright. I tried it in a couple old Champs...sold it for $20 a month ago.

Best sounding cheap 8" and 10" speakers I use are alnico pulls from 50's radios and such.
Check ebay for Zeniths, RCA's etc.
