more dirt from D'lite clean channel?

The clean channel on my d'lite is very clean, plenty headroom even with the gain maxed there's very little breakup. It sounds great, but
what's best way to get alittle more grit and breakup on the clean channel at high gain levels with this amp?
Play with the cathode resistor?

When I turn up my D'lite clean side to 2 oclock, it is quite dirty.Especially with humbuckers. 6v6 output distortion. Are you running 6l6s? You could bias a bit hotter maybe.

Yeah sorry forgot to mention I'm using 6l6.
Maybe I should try some 6v6.

If you've been following the great resistor debate post (RN65 vs CC) it has been discussed that lowering plate/cathode values increases clipping so why not change both halves of the first (clean) tube's plate/cathode values in your Dlite with the values like both halves of the second (OD) tube? Trust me it won't sound like your using OD all the time but should give your clean a little more edge at higher levels. Let us know how it turns out if you try it.

I'd double check the voltages and values. Above about 1:00 on all of my Dumble clones I get a nice gritty crunch using Hums, about 2:00 with SC's. I really count on this crunch for punchy rhythm tones or even some cleaner lead tones using the PAB.

Are you still using your Princeton conversion most of the time??

Not really. I'm playing in a band situation that needs a little more flexability, effects loop and reverb, so I'm using the Peavey conversion with a Tonker and Swamp Thang, PODxt in the loop. I may add a loop to the Princeton and try that later using a Quadraverb in the loop and the EVM15L.

Back to the orignal topic. Both of these amps give me the crunch I like in the clean channel. Both are using very similar clean channels.

well i hadn't tested with humbuckers until tonite (see "D'lite thumbs up" post). Yes you're right gives nice grit/grind around 1-2 o'clock.
Single coils remains pretty clean. Also with gretsches with their low output filtertrons.
I'm loving the d'lite such a versatile amp!
