Why 6-11-16 ohms? Will 4-8-16 work or 2-4-8.. Just curious.

You have to take into account the parallel resistance as well. Ideally, the total load presented to the amp remains roughly consistent, and the attenuation steps are 3-4db each. Ohm's law will let you work this out, and a spreadsheet makes it easier.

To keep the load on the amp somewhat in line with the output impedance setting, you really need to target one impedance with your resistor network (as the HotPlates do).

It looks like this design is some sort of an L-pad resistor network, it keeps the resistance to ground steady and increases the series resistance.

Why doesn't it also vary the resistance to ground? Seems like it could with the switch it uses.

I'd like to use this with an amp with a 2-ohm output. It's been stated on the Trainwreck forums that the Airbrake is for amps 4-16 ohms. Any suggestions on changing resistor values? Judging from plugging in some numbers in an L-pad calculator, it seems I'd have to reduce the resistor values, but which ones/how much?

Just halve all the resistance values (and at least double their power handing if you want to keep the overall power rating of the unit, power goes as the square of current).
