I was thinking the same thing, cbass! I figured Morello and crew had gone down to the club to liberate the oppressed stripper from her boss!
Division Bell

Re: Division Bell
I had all their albums, including "Atom...". They worked with an avant composer on that one, but I can't recall the name. I liked it, but not as much as "Echoes". Speaking about early PF, what about "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals...". When that one came up, I kinda felt like I'd been shafted on the cost of the record!

The memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime, that's all you gotta know move along now nothing to see... hear.. heh

I semi-dated a mostly psychotic girl in the 90s who was a big Floyd fan. She ruined Pink Floyd for me. She made me sit with her and watch The Wall way too many times. Shudder...

Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
						Re: Division Bell
I can listen to echos from LIG over and over. I also think the Live 8 stuff is amazing. Being a little younger (38) MLOR was my first intro to the Floyd. My favorites areGibsonman63 wrote:Not new material, but Gilmour's tone and feel the solos on "From an Island" on Live at Gdansk is pretty amazing to me.
DS, WYWH, Meddle, DB. But I really like on an island.
Re: Division Bell
Speaking of Gilmour...
Anyone see Jools Holland a few weeks ago? Dave was with a band and did Remember A Day with his butterscotch Tele! One of my favorites. He only did one other tune that was a newer one and can't remember the name, but seeing him with the Tele was pretty awesome.

How did my extremely mundane observation make 3 pages?
Friggin Floyd Freaks.
(Bad emoticons in this place anyways...)
I was a #1 PF fan up to the Wall.
Had a love.hate thing going on with Rush.
Now that I've seen Rush a few times, I'm now a #1 Rush fanboy.
They just seem to keep getting better.
Not a constant revival tour, they keep bringing new material to grow into.
And before anyone comments, my username goes way before that...it did not come from Rush.
It came from my layman's fascination with that particular area called Cygnus.
Re: Division Bell
Now you are all free to turn this thread into 7 pages of how no one can stand Geddy's voice.
Yep, me too.
The music and lyrics go way past that.

Re: Division Bell
Can we discuss xray sources instead? Music is disruptive.

Miles, you are too much.Reeltarded wrote:Can we discuss xray sources instead? Music is disruptive.
Wasting beer is one thing.
Wasting it through my nose is another matter altogether!
Re: Division Bell
My young friends, understanding Rush is nothing...
When I was in high school, I was the ONLY fan of DEVO in my county. Perhaps the tri-state area.
You haven't suffered 'til you're a science geek and try to convince cute girls how much cooler DEVO is than Van Halen, Duran Duran and the like.

"Crack That Whip"...in the locker room in 1980.
Separated the men from the boys.
No One admitted listening to DEVO.
I and a few other music nerds (I was 17 at the time) thought actually it was cool, a takeoff on the Tubes.
White Punks on Dope, and that video about the TV's...
But no way we would admit it in the locker room.
Come to think of it, we were into Dr. Dimento and Weird Al during those times.
We "got" Devo", but the jocks sure didn't.
Re: Division Bell
Amen, brother. Funny thing, despite their songs' obvious sexual references ('We put the poles in the holes'...), I think every girl for whom I ever played them thought I was gay.

Thomas "She Blinded Me With Science" Dolby makes a perfect bookend for Devo. Are we not men, even when one of our submarines is missing?
Re: Division Bell
Yep. Had TD too (and Flock of Seagulls, Wall of Voodoo, Human League, New Order, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Goblin). At least in my area, best girl repellent you could use.

Funny thing is, while they used synths, most of those bands had really muscular music. Kinda the synth version of heavy metal. I guess they just didn't use enough hairspray to compete with the glam guys (Flock excluded, of course).
Regards!

Re: Division Bell
But back on the subject of Floyd, here's an interesting collection of songs from "Zabriskie Point". It reminds me of guys just noodling about, but it's very relaxing, David and Rick are pretty much equals here (in fact, Rick kills), and it would make a great driving album for country sojourns:
