Mark the EV12S is hard to find today it is rated @ 300 watts each and it has a worm mid range
Just me I prefer the EV12S over the EVM12L.

I was lucky to find a EVM 12S Series II, just like the ones in that original cabinet. https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... 797#228797 There were some other 12S models. For example the "Pro Line" has a bigger magnet and ribs that come around to the back of the magnet with a smaller label and 300w rating. The one in the original 2x12 cabinet in the e-bay link are "Series II" with a smaller magnet and 200w rating.

Why did I choose the "Series II?" I bought what I could find :) These are not common.

This is the "Pro Line" 12S. I have not listened to that one to compare but I put the datasheet for both of them below:

I gather S versus L is a matter of the designed excursion of the voice coil, short or long. People seem to describe the S as more mid-focused, the L as more full-range, maybe something like the difference between G12M's and G12H's.

I think there might be an M type, too.

Hmm I might need to find one of those EVM 12S speakers to play with. Thanks for explaining.

Now that you are the 'educated buyer' you can be suspicious of this ad on ebay for a EV12S PRO LINE $149.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRO-VOICE-E ... 1c30555c2b

It has the small magnet, no label and claims 400W.

So, actually it looks to be the Series II that handles 200W. I paid $90 for mine like new.

And also use caution here where they may be selling "L" instead of the indicated "S"

The matching speaker cab I built for SSS #004 we loaded with two EV 12S wired to 4ohm and it sounded spectacular. They actually seemed to have a little breakup compared to the 12L, and I think I preferred them too.

I might throw a $5k bid on there just to say I did, even if its under reserve.

It seems like there are more and more Dumble items on eBay the last few months. The head units consistently go for around $50K.

What is the general sale price for the cabs(market value) 112, 212, and 412. I would assume the 412's are the most rare. Would this be worth considerably more then a 212?

Is that your 212 cab? It's in great condition and really cool that it comes with the spec sheet!
I'm curious what it will finish at. It's at $6K right now.

Anyone know how many 212 and 412 cabs are out there? My guess is there must be less then a dozen 412's. I would assume that would make them more valuable. The only price reference I've seen are the eBay auctions for $25K that I'm guessing didn't sell.

I'm brokering the cab for a friend as he wanted to remain private. Based on what i know, and the demand for his products that it might fetch 12k.
As with anything as crazy as the vintage amp market, anything is possible.
It would be my guess that less than 20 of this variety but like I said in the auction the numbers are hard to guess. Too bad any of us could get straight
answers from the man himself about these subjects.
Alexander is such a hard read and from my perspective isn't interested in what we think and what we want to know. Only time will tell when many of these items come to light. At 66 lbs, this cabinet is a beast for a 51 year old to hump up a flight of stairs and seeing how the days of my having roadies are done, it's the only option... or sell it!

Best of luck with the sale. I'd love to own it but it's a little above what I could afford. A really cool collectors piece! I'll be following the auction.

I think many are quick to write off the cabs as just a box of wood. It would be interesting to compare it to a new TR or other D style 212. I have a few Kerry Wright cabs that i like much better than my TR cab.

Ampman, would it be possible to post some measurements before you let it go? The dimensions of the cut out look different from the 2x12 dimensions posted in the files section. The cut out looks to be about 10.25 inches wide by about 18.5" long by measuring the photo.

If you go to the auction, I posted the exact dimensions including the weight of the cab and the speakers individually.
