It's like opening a great Christmas gift every time I hear something from Jimi I've never heard before - thanks!
Do you have the Hendrix Christmas record, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" ?
I heard one of the songs on a radio program way back when ...
It must have been a radio special because I never could find it released.
It's been more recently issued on CD.

Yeah, that's another great one.
A trilogy of Hendrix instrumentals might also include VillaNova Junction:

The Woodstock version is a bit rough, but shines for the most part.

My all time favorite! The tones, the vibe, the jazzy bluesy intensity, all Hendrix' influences from Django to Wes can be found there.

PS VJ at Woodstock cannot be copied, recreated or "covered" - because this was truly from another planet, another galaxy.

This originally appeared on a album called "War Heroes," long out of print, but worth the price of the vinyl and buying a turntable.

Jimi's cover of the Peter Gunn riff is pretty special as well.

I remember War Heros. That was probably the last "album" I had in my collection before CD's hit the scene. I still have it on cassette. Hard to say how much of the music was performed by studio musicians, but you can sure tell Jimi's playing on most of it. It's all golden. Every note he played is sacred to me. He was beyond human.
Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
