country life

Post by ampmike »

Yea,I moved from NJ to the Poconos back in the 80"s.I trimmed houses for 25 years. We could lock up the house and leave our tools over night years ago. Most of the jobs did not have power.Sometimes a mile of poles had to be set.I would be trimming windows on a home and black bears would be walking through the lot.Loved it!!.We would bring fishing poles to work and coolers??
Those were the good old days.No cell phones. All changed now,NYC moved out here. You cant beat living out of a city.I used to shoot groundhogs from my bedroom window, bondfires no problem.I miss those days a lot.Mikey

I lived in Sparta/Lake Mohawk New Jersey for about 5 years in the mid-seventies. It was about 10 miles to the Delaware Water Gap as-the-crow-flies. It was nice back then. Probably all different now.

I forget to mention (perhaps it goes without saying?) that Lake Mohawk NJ would ice over every winter.

Now I live in Syracuse, the city that has won more Golden Snowball Awards than any other!

We average 123.8 inches a season, however we got 192.1 inches during winter of 1992 - 1993.

Yeah, ice storms are bad news for trees and power lines.

I'm kind of disappointed, this Winter we didn't get any snow or ice.

Wind storm today and rain.

Wow!! EXACTLY like me regarding the Black Les Paul Custom in the early-70's. I ended up getting a 72 cherry sunburst Les Paul Deluxe which was my main axe up until last Christmas. When...I finally treated my self to that Custom. Had a small windfall and picked up a 73 ebony Custom with silver hardware. The Deluxe will always be my life long gal. But....the Custom sure does make a compelling lover.

Do be careful driving around in the slippery conditions guys.

Cheers,
Dave O.

Spent lot's of weekends at the Gap during my late teens. Used to go camping there with friends. Lot's of hiking and rock climbing and , oh yeah, sitting around the campfire drinking and experimenting with all kinds of stuff. Some fond memories were made there.

About 6" of snow in s. mn with drifting. We had the freezing rain a bit heavier couple weeks ago full 1/2 thick on the ground.
