Again, thanks for the kind words.

Here is a recent clip with the 5U4 rectifier tube. Tube screamer (the 'standard' $99.00 one). Through the ported 1x EV12s cabinet.

I really appreciate your sharing the videos. Really nice stuff and great tone and playing!

This one is my favorite so far with the Gibby MIII

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGUPyKYz3Xo

I think that had the sweetest most Dumbly tone. Loved it.

Sounds fabulous! Thanks for sharing the video.

Great tone, great playing.

It sounds like it's got a little more push to the tone & I am wondering if you changed something.

I had been just recording my Youtube videos right from the iSight camera and microphone on my iMac.

On that one I went with my 'serious' recording setup.

Signal path to the amp:
1997 ES335 with 500k vol pots and bypass caps.
modern re-issue Tube Screamer ($99 one)
Fuchs Verbrator (used as a reverb pedal) with a Boss DD-3 in its loop.
Into the low gain bright channel of the Manzamp.
Output of the Manzamp into Marshall Power Brake, 3 clicks from full on.
Then into a Dumble-Style ported EV12S cabinet
Tascam PE 125 mic with cardioid element
FireStudio Mobile interface
Macintosh Logic recording software.
A little additional Reverb and Echo added in mixdown.

The backing track was from YouTube and downloaded to a MP3 with this utility ( http://www.listentoyoutube.com/ ).

So, I brought the backing track into Logic and used the computer's built in iSight camera to record as I laid down backing tracks.
I created a good mix in Logic and bounced that to a MP3 file that I imported into iMovie. There I matched the backing track with the correct video. I had to manually synch to two by sliding the sound track back and forth until it looked right.

It sounds like a lot of work and it is. However, it does sound a lot nicer than just using the computer's built in microphone.

Most of the difference in tone is from the close mic of the ported cab.

I was trying to get the sound as good as the excellent Gregor Hilden videos.

I'm a Gregor fan and say you succeeded. The tone is fantastic and the playing is appropriately superb for it - really shows off your fine new amp.

Great job, IC!

I got speakers! How about this very oddball coincidence!

What are the odds that the same seller puts up 2 music man speakers and 2 Jensens with baskets identical to those in the Manzamp on the same day!

I bought all 4.

The Jensens have what looks to be a slightly different magnet and perhaps different voice coil, but the basket is identical to the two upper speakers in the original Manzamp.

Are you building Iceracer a cab?

It just occurred to me the amp isn't in any of the You Tube footage.

I like 10" speakers, but generally an amp needs a few of them.
Yours Sincerely
