Strat Static on the trem bar?

Ok So some of you have seen pics of my new partscaster. I noticed today that I am getting static when I use the trem bar. It only happens when my skin is touching the steel. If i just grab the plastic there is no noise. Check the sound clip and you'll here it. When there is no static I am not touching the steel portion of the bar. Also it gets lower but is still there when I am touching the strings. In the clip I am only touching the strings at the end. It is audibly lower but still there. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Did you connect the bridge to signal ground?

Do you have a good ground to the spring claw? What is the continuity from the spring claw to the trem block? Some blocks are made from a cheap ass metal that oxidizes easily / and or are anodized and may lose the continuity.

Plug in and touch the claw. Same noise?

I have the same Callaham trem. Measure the resistance from the output jack plate to the strings behind the nut. I get around 1 ohm.

Could be static electricity if not a grounding problem.

It is much dryer in the winter time inside our homes and so static electricity becomes much worse.

Strats especially suffer from static electricity due to the large plastic pickguard.
It basically forms a large capacitor.

The easy remedy is to take a fabric softener dryer sheet (like Bounce) and rub it on the pickguard.

Yea thats the thing Tom. It's not happening on the pickguard. I have had that problem before. I do drag my pinky and ring finger across the pickguard too but i am not getting the static when i do that. I have the Callaham shield plate on this one too. Only when using the trem bar and i touch the metal of the trem bar. I plugged in again last night and it didn't happen so now i am wondering if something else was going on when i posted the OP. I will plug it in again when i get home and report back. It's just weird.

I hate intermittant problems!!!

Maybe try to clean the spring to block and claw.

Perhaps it is making poor contact.

Did you measure the resistance from the output ground to the claw?

And perhaps the ground wire to the claw has a cold or bad solder joint on the pot?
