No way is it possible I'm a youngster around here, at 45. Where ARE the whip-snaps?

I have a thoery as to why that happens. Think about it this way: When you are four years old, it takes one-fourth of you entire lifetime and experiences to get around to your next birthday. However, when you're forty years old, it only takes one-fortieth of your lifetime to get to your next birthday.NickC wrote:Happy Birthday!
I'm a few+ years ahead of you. Have you noticed the solar circumnavigations getting faster and faster yet?

Umm....me, too, and happy birthday to those who are claiming another year!NickC wrote:Happy Birthday!

For this, Nick, I offer the pie theory of life.
Life is like a pie. When you are 10, there are 10 slices, each the representation of elapsed years in your mind. Time passes slowly, forever until that next birthday. At 60, you have 60 slices in the pie. Yet, the diameter of the pie, in the mind, remains fixed; one life is the unit of measure! Therefore, the perceived time to add a slice keeps getting perceptually shorter. Before you know it, slices are added too quickly. The years are whizzing by. The mind will play its tricks.
I wonder if this is stressful for centenarians? Heck, it must feel like another birthday is coming 'round every month or so.

Happy belated birthday Lefty.
I turned 56 a couple weeks ago.
Getting older sucks.

52 for me next Sunday. Seems like I was 20 just a few years ago. What the hell happened?

Reeeaally?
I bet much like myself, you couldn't prove you were ever 20 if you had to.
8-tracks didn't take pictures when we were kids.

I think Phil S and I are on the same page with our theories about why time seems to fly as we get older.
