Now that gets as personal as fine tuning an amp. And you can measure what you like but in the end it comes down to feel rather than measurement. Then you train your hands to notice the small differences like tuning your ear in, and a few months later a change in season throws it out and you have to start again!

I liked the way the tech section was broad, random, and serendipitous (Is that a word?) with Marshall, Fender, Vox for a chewy center.

That's your problem right there, your supposed to put D batteries not gas in there. If necessary pull on the spring in the cap some to make sure the D cells are tightly pushed together.

I remain cautiously optimistic. This community seems pretty resilient to the classic "Message board going down in flames" syndrome I've seen elsewhere.

What's really funny in the message board world are those boards devoted to a college football team. Eventually half the people get mad enough at the other half that they splinter and start another board, then the "board wars" start where they don't allow mention of the 'other' board.
