I have a real turtle joke wanna hear it, sure you do!

A drunk walks into a bar very late, too drunk to be served but the bartender convinces him he'll serve him just one drink, but then he must call it a night. The guy downs his drink, staggers around some, and hands the bartender some cash. When the bartender gets to the register he sees this turtle next to it that some customer had forgotten. It's been sitting in the bar for a week waiting for the owner to come back and claim it. Some regulars had put it in a plastic container from the deli with a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato to eat. Barman thinks, hey, I'll give this to the drunk and be rid of it. He'll wake up in the morning and it'll be his problem. So when he gives the drunk his change he goes, "hey buddy, I've got a present for you", and hands him the box. Drunk stumbles on out and walks off into the night. Next afternoon the guy comes back into the bar, this time straight, and sits at the bar and orders a beer and the same thing he had to eat last night. Bartender goes, you didn't eat anything last night, you just had a drink and then headed out. Guy says, "no way, I had a great sandwich, you gave it to me on the way out - roast beef on a hard roll."

Turtle.

I do use a tube rectifier in Champ builds.
Snapping turtles tend to have some rough peaks but a smoothing water lily and a bullfrog placed in series seem to settle them down.

The GZ34 snapper is great.
Almost SS in response.
Snappy!

Impossible to believe I would have the last word on this topic.

So now I will have to try a venerable Mullard GZ34 to my ongoing high gain series.

Fine!
(When your gal says "Fine!", you know what that means...)

You are not my gal, but go ahead, no one is going to stop you.

When I start picking really fast the tube can't keep up with the attack, but I like them for slamming chords. Has Randall Smith patented anything that transitions rectification with attack yet? We should come up with something for him.

Using a SS rectify instead of Tube Rectify

save you the cost of 1/2 of the HV winding

a 0-350v 100mA winding cost less than a 350v-0-350v 100mA winding

as it employs 1/2 of the copper

And yes, you are right, you can add the cost of a SAG resistor

Of course with a 0-350v winding you can decide to use an hybrid rectifier

2 SS diodes and 1 Tube Rectifier (and save the SAG resistor)

I just prefer the "feel" of a rectifier tube.

But, I think the cattifier is a great idea that we should all explore!!!

I LIKE TURTLE CHEESE CAKE! :D

I wish I had a test bed amp to try different rectifier tubes in.....

But there is something about an old amp with out of tolerance parts and a tube rectifier.

BLUEZ!
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

I've collected the parts.

Will I need a separate heater supply for the cattifier?

Is it really that cold down under that your cat needs four heaters, really
