Re: Sleepers will be the death of TAG
I can see the good and bad...but the big difference here from other forums, is that this is pretty much a builder's forum....nut just an 'owner's/user's' forum.
Dumble and Trainwreck are derivative circuits, so why not have a 'mother of sound' section for VoxFenWatt etc.
I know the moderators here and they are good people...
It's just like television...if you don't like the content, change the channel to another section that you like. I mean, why would you hang in the Vox section if you only like Dumbles and Trainwrecks?
I'm here because I like a lot of the newer smarty pants builders in the general area...and if I can add anything, I will.
If the truth be told, I'm here because Reeltarded cracks me up. And he's no idiot and he keeps it light.....as we all should.

Wow! I need to get a job up in here! Compliments on personality have been missing in my life.. well, for my whole life!
Do not pay me. I get paid for honesty. (and babysitting grown ups who constantly disagree but both suck)

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Traynor, Sunn, Univox, Silvertone, yeah a lot of mostly derivative stuff that might have one or two unique stages of circuitry but not as unique as Ampeg as a whole.martin manning wrote:Maybe the Vox/Hiwatt sub-forum could be expanded and renamed to something like Other Classic Amps, with a description mentioning Vox, Hiwatt, Ampeg (can't forget Ampeg!), etc. I think the discussion volume on those would be smaller so one sub would cover them. One danger i see is that too many sub-categories makes it harder to keep up with what's going on. MEF kind of suffers from that...

I thought about it. If there is interest I will do it. Maybe add it to the vox/hi watt section?sliberty wrote:Greg - why no Orange/Martamp forum? Could be my next build.....

LOL! They have their own forum don't they?
Re: Sleepers will be the death of TAG
I voted turtles.
(This will become an insider's classic).
I have zero standing...I have been hanging out here and still have not completed a D or Twreck.
I build completely different amps.
I'm stretching to think of exactly how I showed up...I think it was a Brown Note link or sumpin'.
But when I want to look into production amps I tend to drift to MEF (If I may mention that infected site).
But it seems like as busy as that place can get, there are only about 6 really active members in the amp sections.
Here?
There is so much varied experience.
I never thought of it as a D and Twreck limited forum at all.
We shall see.
Snappers!

Re: Sleepers will be the death of TAG
Those are so yesterday anyhow. I want to make a PTP Bugera.
Can one of the mods enable 13mb graphics in our signatures since we are heading in that direction anyhow? I have a picture of a Ferrari driving through a wall of smoke with a half-naked woman on the hood that I think is art and I'd like to share it with everything I say. It has EFF DA PO LEECE in 128 point comic sans in the limest green I could find in paint shop across the bottom. It's only 3000pxls wide.
I should stop kidding and be serious. This isn't making it any easier. It's really 3200 pixels wide.

Hehe... read the title and thought you were talking about me. Time to wake up and build that amp waiting on the backburner.

Re: Sleepers will be the death of TAG
I've been coming here for years because besides the Dumble and TW info, there is a LOT of knowledge being exchanged that is a great teaching tool to go on and build/modify these and other amp brands/original designs.
But, to expand the choices on this site seems kinda meaning-less to me. If I want Dumble or Trainwreck info I come here. If I'm looking for Marshall or Fender or most any other amp, I'll go to that site. So what's the gain?
Not against changing, just saying...
