Saw this over at the Gear Page.
I hope they don't discontinue the 6PS line.
I remember that I contacted a guy at SBE and asked him about the
polyester line and he said that the tube guys were just about the only customer of that line and that good Mylar for capacitors was becoming harder and harder to source.
They sold the Orange Drop line to CDE.
From the president of Cornell Dubilier:
“We will continue to manufacture these capacitors out of the current SBE Barre, Vermont facility utilizing the same people, processes and equipment for the near term ultimately transferring the manufacturing to other CDE manufacturing locations.”
I sure hope that doesn't mean that production will eventually move to China......

Soon, a cottage industry will emerge for people who need to roll their own, and then you'll be able to make them any color you want!
It is always hard to know when a manufacturer will discontinue a product. It is always inconvenient, and there is never enough notice -- sometimes there is no notice.
I recall when fixing my Gibson Minuteman several years ago, there was a Vactrol (a brand name) iso-optilator that was a very good match for the original Sylvania branded part that was no longer in production. Between the time I figured out the part was a decent match and then deciding to try to buy just one (small quantities are always a problem), they were out of production and I had no luck sourcing the part. It was a matter of a few weeks.
I suppose, if you really feel this part will become unobtanium and remain desirable, it might be time to stock up on common values. Who knows, they may appreciate in value -- though not like the Genelex KT66, I don't think.

He's not real clear on his terminology: "you're going to need a capacitance measuring thingy, equipment" LOL
