Filament wiring?

Post by majshumlan »

Hey

Im making me a Hiwatt clone and are thinking about the filamentwiring.
Im using AC filament and do the regular twisting of the wires.
Also im thinking of putting the wires inside a metalbraid(dont know if its right word)
that are connected to ground.I seen many posts about this but cant get a clear
picture of it.

Some old radio books talk about doin this.
Is it worth the time doin it?If so where should I ground it?
To the chassi att the end of my "Starground" or some where at
each "tubeground" whers the cable is located.

I can't see that it would help - such hum would couple magnetically, rather than electrostatically.
Good lead dress is how to mitigate heater hum interference, or dc heaters.
