Fluke 87V -buying from the USA

I am looking for the 87V to replace my Chinese knock off DMM.I just don't feel safe with HV running through this intermittent POS, not to mention the accuracy of the readings.

They seem to run about £400 ($640!) in the UK. I am sorry that I could not take Taylor
Cox up on his offer last year of one, but I didn't have the spare cash then.

It is hard to find one which I am sure is genuine on ebay. It looks like I will have to buy one from the US.

Can anyone Stateside recommend a trusted source for a Fluke please?
I think new is best, but if anyone knows of a decent used one then I may be interested.

Fluke is indeed very good instruments, but they sure charge a fair bit for the name....
We have several Amprobe's here at work - absolutely nothing wrong with them. Agilent ( ex HP ) are also very good instruments, well known in the international pro market.

There are a WIDE range of multimeters that use the exact same Burr Brown chip. I have seen it in $250 units and $5 units. YMMV, but the implementations are alot alike. I have seen $5 mulitmeters that are a pretty darn good value.

That may well be true... I haven't bothered to open one in quite a few years....
Basically they are alle the same, since all measurements are based on voltage, in the end. Quality of measurements for extra functions like true RMS, capacitance and hfe may vary, though.....
What usually differs in quality, is ruggedness towards high current measuments and mechanical abuse.
For all but simple use, I'd stay away from the 10$ versions, though.....

( FWIW - I'm responsible for a lab setup, where we spend 25k$ a year on calibration only..... ISO certified... )

I am not Chinese either. You don't have to worry about high voltages blowing me up... I worry about that for you!

Hi Miles... maybe that is the solution....

the problem with certified calibration, is that everything needs to be done towards setups that are at least one decade better that your own....
when several of the instruments are in th 20-6o k$ range ( microwave), things just get snowballing........

That ebay price isn't too bad, but I guess you'd have to count for maybe some customs fee ( prob'ly not so much) and VAT......

Check also Digikey. if you're still hooked on Fluke....

Don't think digikey, mouser, rs ship fluke out side the us you have to buy from their Internationale distributors. Think you can get Agilent but I'm not sure, been some time sins i checked around. And as Aurora said the Agilent is very fine instruments whit better accuracy. If you compare them whit fluke in the same price range.
