Are Ei EL84 Elite's still in production?

Is EI just doing a revamp or are they ancient history? BTW, great community you guys have. Glad to be a member.

If they're not actually dead, then they appear to be on their last legs. Failure rates exceeding 80% is not a real business. Pity, because when you do get a good EL84, they are very good.

Wow! Failure rate of over 80%. I never heard that. The quad I got have been reliable and sound great.

I love the tubes, but 80% sounds accurate to me. Their 12AX7 and EL84 are some of the best in the world in terms of tone, but the power tubes don't last long unless you baby them and the 12AX7s are prone to horrible microphonics. Even if you get a quiet one, it won't be quiet for long.
