Re: Reyes attenuator
so I went to check http://www.kometamps.com/accessories.html
and saw this:
Due to the increasing difficulty in the acquisition of components, the Komet Airbrake™ is only produced in limited quantities and only available through Komet Amplification...
What parts are now hard to source? The rheostat? The big Ohmite? Should I hurry and build an airbrake?

Re: Reyes attenuator
Komet better talk to Dr Z then to get parts:)
Re: Reyes attenuator
I have a Dr Z. Air Brake and a TAD Silencer, which is based on Hot Plate.
For low attenuation, up to about -7db, the Air Brake is a lot more transparent. At higher attenuation levels, once the Air Brake gets into "Bedroom" mode, the TAD attenuator voicing switches (Bite for highs, Punch for lows) makes it more useful. The TAD also has a speaker emulation output which is great for setting up a dry-wet rig. So I found that, when I did not have power scaled amps, I used mainly the Air Brake. Now, I only use the TAD for the speaker emulation or load, since power scaling does a nicer job for lower attenuation levels.

But I thrive on the roller coaster of despair and euphoria of DIY, and the money would just go to something practical like my late utility bills - bah!garlin wrote:Your time and expense could easily be more expensive than just buying one from Komet
