I have no intent to fan the flames but the truth is we have experienced the death of the Amazing country which many of us grew up with in the 60's and 70's. The don't F with us country, the country that put a man on the moon, the strongest country in the world militarily and in manufacturing. The leader in health care technology and research. AND THE WORLD LEADER IN FINANCIAL SUPPORT. Sadly it has been decided to give hand outs to the lazy asses who have NEVER contributed nor will. We have hit critical mass, the recipients are now the MAJORITY and from now on will vote for the party which will continue to give them the handouts. For all of us who have worked hard and contributed to this nation, we are now penalized through taxation for being successful to support those who have no desire to amount to anything more than a grease stain on the couch.

Flame on, I have nothing to lose - my first divorce took it all and still is - what is left will be taken by the biggest proposed tax increase January 2013 - what do I have to look forward to - End of life planning / counseling by Obamacare.

My question is, where the F is our great country to help all of us who have contributed our entire work lives and have not burdened the country one cent for means-tested benefits, oh yeah, we get higher taxes, higher gas prices and "leaders" of a country who will not go after terrorist who killed 4 Americans - who were desperately pleading for help - in Libya just to name a few.

Sadly the glory days are gone, they ended about the same time the true muscle cars left Detroit. It took the last few years to throw away 200 years of blood. sweat and tears. America has become soft and vulnerable, the world may not end in 2012 - but the America that I grew up with and loved did.

The end of our country was at the hands of people like Mitt Romney and the like who feed the greed of the 1%. Sending jobs over sea's because they can get some 3rd world country to make the same products for pennies on the dollar. The same "middle class" people who used to do these jobs and raised there families have been sold to China and countries with a cheap work force. The people who scream about the need for smaller government are the same people now screaming because FEMA didn't react fast enough or do enough to help people in need after these epic storms. The same people who don't believe in "global warming" and its affect on weather are now suffering because the sea has risen steadily over the decades to the point where New York is flooding because of a storm". I struggle to provide for my family. I work hard for my money and have a "good" job, but I am certainly not living the utopia of the 60's and 70's.

As for the socialist direction--think about that for a bit, try to understand what that word really means and not the connotation that some have attached to the word.

If you're dead set against socialism, it is hypocritical of you to accept food from a food bank--other people gave money/food so that you could eat. If we want to do away with socialism, then we do away with all the fire departments, the police forces, the military, all the public roads and bridges, all the public schools, the national parks--everything that is funded with tax money, labor, or donations of any kind from the people to serve others.

Like it or not, the military is the biggest example. Why should I, someone living out in the boonies of Minnesota, a place that hasn't had any unrest that required any form of military since the 1800s, have to pay money to support the military? People around here have enough guns to take care of themselves and their neighbors. Any "terrorists" that try to invade have a lot of states and counties to go through before they get to us in the woods. Why should we have to pay for tanks and cruise missiles that we will never have to use? It's called socialism. Whether they realize it or not, most people like socialism when it does things for themselves but detest it when it is for someone else.

Why should I care if some inner city child or Indian on the rez is going without food or healthcare? Why should I care if you have food to eat? If I really understand and embrace what it means to be a part of a civilized society, how can I not care?

I prefer to dig deeper into the background, rather than accept
what the msm or some others say. My BS detector is on most of the time.

We all have our validation for our reasoning.

I was looking for the restroom and wandered in here.
To see friends discussing and arguing.
I know I spent 3 hours of my time I can never get back only to see results I didn't care for.
A local school board hell bent on draining the community dry of money and no foresight to understand new money will not be coming in due to their greediness.
A County "penny tax" that we still don't know the result of, but we saw shortages of voting machines in the very precincts that were known to be against the tax.
Incumbents who could give two shits with no viable opponents.
And didn't matter for the top of the ballot, the state was in for that in South Carolina.

I just wish for people to wake up and understand government is never the answer, as that chain saw wielding former President told us.
A true leader expects us to act responsibly, not to govern everything in sight.

I find this "blame the 1%" stuff fascinating.

I do not know anyone who would not like to be a lot wealthier than they are. Someone, anyone, please tell me how much you love paying your mortgage, or worse, rent (someone else's mortgage).

If we confiscate *all* of the wealth (not just the income for this year, ALL of the wealth) of the top 1% it would run the government for less than 8 months. After that one-time extraction, what are you gonna do then? Anyone who believes that any federal fiscal sanity will result from "taxing the rich" cannot do the simplest math.

How anyone believes that adding millions to the insurance rolls and guaranteeing coverage for preexisting conditions will *lower* insurance costs defies ALL logic.

What part of we're broke AND in debt up to our eyeballs don't you understand? We are not the "richest country in the world." We are the biggest debtor nation in the world - in the HISTORY of the world, in fact.

One percent of the population pays more than 1/3 of all fed tax.
At 35% rate. *

1/75th of one percent are billionaires.

The top 10% pay over 70% of the tax burden. *

And these folks are the ones that create and have jobs for many people.

I really don't think giving people like this a tax break is going to help anyone.Trickle down does not work.

That is not how the rich think.They love money more than the American people.Integrity and right and wrong don't even factor into the equation
