Yep. I think KOC calls it dc stand-off. Does two things: the ac now oscillates around a voltage higher than ground so it's harder for the hum to interact with the cathode; and it shifts the heater to cathode voltage so you can run cathode followers at high cathode voltage w/o risk.andrew wrote:http://www.ax84.com/static/corepoweramp ... ematic.pdf Is that an elevated heater example? Exactly, it's been around for while and is cheaper than DC heaters. I have run DC standoff voltage on DC powered filaments. Overkill?
