Hello

I have been reading and posting on this forum for a while and require some guidance in relation to the starting my first Dumble amp.

I intend on building a Hybrid A model to get a simular sound to Robben Ford.

Can someone confirm or please post an accurate circuit and layout diagram.

In relation to chassis where is the best place to get one from. Please note that I live in Australia.

I have found a person who makes them in Bangkok has anyone used this chassis ?

Has anyone got any other tips in making these type of amps ?

The D-Lite is a better choice. This schematic has been tweaked and has been tested many times. The only thing missing is the relays and relay supply for switching, but look around, you'll find these schematics around too.

I think my HRM circuit sounds much more like Robben to me....

Having said that, if you feel the Hybrid A style is for you, I'd use the ODS101 schematic and not the Dlite as there are some feedback and tonestack departures in the Dlite that make it less Robben to my ears... Especially the 6V6 output.

Unless you just want to buy a Dlite kit. Email the guys and tell them what you are after. They know what to recommend.

Bob I have found that you have posted the HRM diagram but I can not get access to it. Can you please post it again.

Has any got the layout diagrams ?

dogears where are the guys that sell the Dlite kits ? I never thought anyone sells kits for these amps.

Here is Brownnote's site, I didn't see the kit listed with the others he offers so just shoot him an email or ask in the forum over there. I built one from scratch and I have to say it is not exactly Ford or Carlton's tone but is definetly in the same vein. It has its own vibe which I think is very cool in it own.

If you can wait a little bit I will hav chassis and boards available again around August to build dead-on clones. The chassis that I sell are sans-logo of course. I also will have cabs, trannies, and parts. I usually buy in bulk to get good prices, then I sell off what I don't need here on the board for what I paid so everyone wins.

a) Is it that one cannot get clean sound from HRM with EL34's or,
b) that the clean sound from HRM with EL34's is so excellent that one cannot even imagine its excellence (without hearing it)?

Put me down on the 'definitely interested' list if there is such a thing. But just to clarify, which amp is this a dead-on clone of?

the amp in the pictures is an HRM, although an 80's amp works just fine as well.

My chassis are an amalgamation of different ODS's that I've seen the guts of, but is is closest to a late 90's (#218 I believe). To save everyone time and money I had them powder-coated instead of annodized, and I took a couple liberties here and there.

You can do them 100% PTP if you'd like, I prefer to do them PCB and Eyelet board construction, I prefer the precision power section with the totem poled caps and that is MUCH easier on a PCB IMHO.
