I am so sad........

Met so many great people overthere, and learnt so much........ A big thank to the mods, admins and members!!!!!!!!

Switched on my new 6V6LiteIIb with boost for the first today when the site went down. As a sign my 2K2 resistor PSU smoked.... I am stuck with that now.

Where can we post for our 18watt technical help needs now?

Though I haven't been back to 18 watt since the BBQ Boy BS, I'm sad to hear that it is no more. Speaking of no m00re... I saw the GM amp promo on youtube and I can hear why he got other people to demo "his" amps. Yuck! At least tune the @*&# thing!!!

I truly think Mr. Moore is a fake. The only thing he proved to me was that he couldn't answer one technical question I put to him without going off on a tangent or pussy footing around the question without answering the question. I think he found a bunch of stuff on the web somewhere and tried it in an amp and then made himself out to be some brain that was on a level far above anyone else on the planet. The guy has some serious problems when it comes to society and fitting in. S2 would have proven his stuff would not work as advertised if he had gotten the chance to follow through with his proposed tests. I just got tired of listening to his crap and gave up trying to make heads or tales of his double talk.

When I offered to do the test, I was calling his bluff. You guys don't actually believe that was really going down did you? He wasn't ever going to send me a drawing.

I think he's one of those guys suffering from "I built it myself" syndrome.

Well, the going away part was effective on me, however it didn't work so well on him. It's an evil tactic at best.

Me, for one, but I am not afraid to plainly state that I don't know everything. I was unaware of this attribute until I read TUT.

I opened a thread in the technical forum regarding the viability of using this method to auto limit a phase inverter constructed from pentodes.

I would welcome your inestimable advice on that topic, of a non-flame-baiting, goat getting, or otherwise incendiary nature. I would love to learn more of the pros and cons in a friendly, even spirited, discussion.

any chance for a 18watt.com revival...I'd dedicate some time and cash to keep it alive...I'm sure there are other willing souls...that site was a great marketing tool for the amp/kit sellers, cabinet builders, ect...

this site is great as well but the 18watt.com was a unique spot...hate to see it go like this

If you give any of this attention, the chances are things get out of hand.
Some guys building amps for donkey’s years and have lots experience. Other people build on amp and think they know it all.
I truly believe we have all have some responsibility for the closure of 18watt.com.
We could have stopped any foul discussions. But be honest, don’t we all like watch and sit on the fence? Some people have nothing better to, than to have a go at others. It is very fashionable. Thank you very much daytime television.
As far as I’m concerned, losing 18watt.com is more than just the loss of a technical source.
It is the loss of a great community, governed only by the desire to help and share knowledge with others for no return other then the satisfactory to contribute.
Sad to see it go

Definitely going to miss 18watt. I usually lurked there a couple times a day. Hardly had to ask any questions because the answers were in the archives. What a great bunch of helpful, knowledgeable folks.

I too see this as a very sad day in amp building history, it will go on my calendar like the other great american tragedies.

coffee in the morning, check out the new info, then I was ready for work. And a great after lunch read.

I think the worst is it was a great was for those selling kits to get exposure to the general public. Surely it will negatively affect those vendors businesses.

ps. I did not want to name any names, but its already been done, so if we could just get mr. moore banned before he even tries to lollygag any of us that would be greatly appreciated. Personally I believe banning him and valve jr threads early on might have kept the moderators sanity intact.

Anyone who cant say heres what I got, what do you think, and accept the replies no matter what the opinions, really has no place in asking for opinions in the first place. Not to mention the common courtesy of being civil to others, which is not just a crime against 18watt, but all of humanity.

like everyone else I also saddend by the clousure of 18watt.com ,I have only been a member for a few months but it really was a vault full of knowledge ,everytime I made a post the replys that I received were always courtious and helpful, gonna miss it
