But the I decided to google for information on current amps he is using and came across his tech and misc. requirements for performing a show. I had no idea all this went on in the big world of music.

This rider is common, and not very demanding, really.
The idea is that you make them sweat and provide as much as they can on the list because if you start out low you end up with 'everything sucks'.
Everyone gets liquour and food and water and snacks and.. everything. You are from out of town and cost thousands of dollars. You want to risk a show because someone got lost taking a cab to a grocery? Fear it!
I worked back gate security at the Fargo Dome, Fargo, ND for an AC/DC concert where I was lucky enough to shake hands with Angus Young.
They were bringing water, deli and fresh fruit through the gate and beer for all the truck drivers. These road people love to meet other people so I was not bored working security that day and got to see the concert for a while. I met with Angus after his show and he was a worn out puppy.
The only thing I ever asked for was pretty soap, shampoo, and a bottle of Cuervo Gold. I don't drink that stuff anymore. Yuck. Just talking aout it makes me a little wobbly.
Keep in mind a lot of these requests will be crossed out in red pen by the promoter or venue. Or supplied but taken directly out if the profit the artist would have been paid. It's no different then a signing bonus the money comes from somewhere and almost always ends up being the artist.
