Re: Not Like This!
So there are two amps in this thread, or did you decide to go ahead and finish the earlier one without installing the remade board?
Re: Not Like This!
This is the first board. I'd already punched the chassis to match the tube socket layout. She'll be making noise tomorrow.
The second board has been shelved for now.
I'm going to build version 3 next - 12" x 6" with all the bells & whistles incorporated.
Hopefully there won't be too many problems.

It's been quiet on the TW side lately so I decided to post some pics of my latest build.
The previous big board version sounds very good - not quite as close to the edge, but definitely not a polite amp.
Much more care & consideration went into this one - it's 12" x 6".
Thanks to all who's ideas I built into this.
More of a Marshall type TS. Volume pot turned to shorten the bright sw wiring. Presonance (I still managed to mess up the component layout).
Incoming mains filter - variable voltage control - & fuses in all the right places (hopefully).
Already got the next version drawn - lots of bells & whistles (3 relays).
More on that later. I'll be firing up this puppy today.
Please Lord - no smoke.

That is killer Bob and you're gonna love the tone. You'll be surprised just how heavy EL84s can sound with the right setup. Great job. I love the layout.
Re: Not Like This!
Nice job Bob, I was thinking about building a LP and Express the same way you did.
Love to read your report on stability and tone.

Dave & Mark - I owe you guys in particular, along with RJ, Martin, you guys opened my eyes to the possibilities.
The main things I've learned are don't be afraid to fail, and learn from your mistakes.
