--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hi, I really dont spend very much time on this forum but I read here once and awhile (amazing work guys) and knew this was the place to ask this question.
I want to get a oscilloscope. I am leaning heavily towards a tektronix 465 or 465b. I feel that if I ever need anything more accurate than that I will go with some sort of computer interface scope.
Anyway, a few questions,
Is there a better scope out there for analog audio work? I know I dont even need the bandwidth that the 465 offers, but I want it anyway.
I am looking to spend under 400 dollars if possible. Is there any refurbishing companies that could offer a decent conditioned one at that price?
What probes should I look for? I know I need a X10 for the higher voltages, but is there anything else?
Main things this scope will be used for are tube amp repair and analog modular synthesizer construction.
Thanks

I bought a used Tektronix 485 from a tech supply firm a few years ago. It came freshly calibrated and certified. That is the last of the high-end line of analog Tektronix scopes and is highly serviceable. I also have a CD containing all of the manuals for both service and operations, chapter and verse, so I can repair the unit if ever needed. It is a fine piece of gear and has proved to be a good value for tube-amp and solid-state hi-fi work.

There are many scopes available on eb@y. You should be able to get a very nice 2 chan for $200-300. I scored a 4-chan Tek in mint condition with probes for $350 +shp.
