What has influenced your decision?

I don't know anything about the Fane Medusa 150?

The Scumback PVC are a bit of a mystery too, are they suppose to be vintage correct greenbacks or something else?
Yours Sincerely

From my site:
M75-PVC
Warm, detailed midrange enhanced guitar speaker with smooth overdrive and distortion tones. This is a superb tone and sound recreation of the early G12M 20w Kraft paper voice coil era "Greenback" that was used in Marshall stacks, BluesBreaker combos, and many other British amps of the pre 1968 era such as Vox, Orange, Sound City, etc. They have a very pleasing upper midrange voice that cuts through the mix without being harsh. This speaker's tone is woodier, with more upper mids than the M75, but less treble and more bass than the BlackBack BM75 model, so it's tone sits between those two models.

Shoot me an email if you need more details than that, OK? sales at scumbackspeakers.com

The Scumbacks have awesome reputation and everything i have heard and been told been nothing been awesome. They seem to create that awesome vintage rock crunch...see Glen K clips on YouTube.

As far as the Fanes are considered they seem to have the biggest bottom end on any 12 inch, and remember we are talking about liverpool and Express here, super bright amps. Clips and info of the Fanes are hard to come by but when you do you will get the idea.

thanks

An update: - I purchased the Fane Medusa, Scumback M75 and the Jensen Blackbird. First, I have to say that the Scumback and Fanes are great speakers and together they are unbelievable. ....Jim - you make a great speaker There is bass for days, I have to turn treble up! Imagine that, doing this on a liverpool and an express! The setup makes the amp have a full range of useable tones.

The Jensen were ok, but definitely too bright on its own and was okay with the scumback, but i have not tried them with the Fanes, i suspect they would fair better. The Jensen is a true upper mid range speaker, think light cream, not creamy but not harsh ...way way better than a vintage 30. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. I thought I heard Scumback ceased using Weber for some components, and I wondered if this effected their tone?

Mind you this is here say, good to know Fane and Scumbacks' are a quality product.

A little info on the Fanes for everyone:

The Medusa 150 is tuned for big low end that is tight and articulate, the mids and highs are well balanced and smooth. Overall is has a bell like character that is pleasing to the ear.

The AXA 12 AlNiCo is tuned again for big low end that is tight and articulate, woody mids and plenty of high end chime and sparkle. The low end on this speaker has some traditional AlNiCo folks describing it as slightly dark. Thus, no high end fizz are low end fartiness of some classic AlNiCos. Great for cleans and distorted tones and becomes a real beast when pushed hard.

I think that covers the Fane questions in this thread. Please let me know if anyone wants info on the other speakers. As an FYI, the AXA 12 and Medusa 150 are by far the most popular with clients. Followed closely by the Studio 12L.

I've heard only good things said about the Studio 12L.

I don't know if this description is accurate, but I imagine the Studio 12L to be like EV building a British voiced speaker.

It comes to mind as a good alternative to using two Celestion 65 watt speakers as it covers the 65 bottom end more than adequately.

Yeah, the Studio 12L is similar to the EVM, however the high end fizz of the EVM is not present, and the low end is beefier. Still pretty neutral overall. Mostly the Dumble guys have flocked to this speaker. Jelle is particularly fond of this speaker with his amps.

I use a Jensen P12n and a ceramic jesen(40 watt) and it sounds better than my marshall 4x12 with g12m's.

Yeah, I'd like one with my Bluesmaster clone. At the moment is a thrown together amp and will need rebuilding. I think Studio 12L would be a better speaker than the 65 Celestion's. They are good, but not wonderful.

Still I haven't heard the Medusa or the Axiom speakers, so I'll have to rely on Jelle's assessment which is dead in my circumstance.
