Looks great Mark...congrats
good to hear no problems with can caps...I have a few lying around.
I've been out of the TW circle for a little while
are those small brown caps NTE?
Mark, excellent build and although I received her I have not had time yet to tube her up and listen.... Sorry to be out of the loop for so long, lots of work and other drama going on for me so I am really just in the spectator mode here for now. I'll report back on this when I get a chance. rj

Get busy. lol
Sorry to be a slug on this... I got a bunch of chassis and boards left - in fact all the parts for those that want em. I've also got a similar Rocket board designed that uses the same chassis in a 2 hole configuration so you can go with a pair of EL84's or octals. thanks for your patience! rj
Recently I have decided to take a bunch of the prototype amps that I have in various stages and finish them into a more useable or marketable state. This particular amp deserved a better life than I was giving it... Mark sent it back to me a long time ago and it's been slumbering among the many prototypes for too long.
I put a fresh set of Saratov's in it, a random set of old stock 12AX7's, then put it into a cabinet. Mark did an excellent job of putting this together and the more I play it the better it sounds.
I didn't want to spend too much effort on the cabinet - we've got too many awesome cabinet builders and I don't want that task... anyway for obvious reasons I dubbed her as "Blondie" and she is a contender for the best sounding Rocket I've ever heard.
This is the original prototype Rocket build using the Pacific 7-layer-wind Dynaco style output transformer. I sent them all the details and drawings I could gather up on the Rocket transformers and their engineers worked up this design.

Bob I like that. I thought you were going to put a wood faceplate on it so that's why I use the paint stick and filled in the front markings, sorry bud.

No worries - I used some paint thinner and cleaned up the front panel. Mostly I wanted to get the amp in a cabinet so I could use it. I will probably put this up for sale and I'd like to give the future owner the chance to personalize it with their own faceplate.
Mark wrote:I thought the brown caps in the Rocket were suppose to be polyester and not polypropylene. How was the material type determined?
I have had all different kinds of caps show up when I order the Panasonic coupling caps... so I never know what to expect. I think Mark used whatever I sent him... in this case and they appear to be the polypropylene units. They are great sounding but I think the selection was a bit random for this build... Maybe Mark recalls the how and why of it.
This is a very cool sounding amp and I have it up in Fort Collins Co this weekend and I'll try to get my boys to record some clips for us.
I used the parts that were supplied but I never questioned using these coupling caps because I already knew how good they sound in my own builds so I wasn't worried.
