Wow....

Post by Structo »

Are any of you guys members at the Gear Page?

Yesterday I made a comment on the George Harrison thread that a guy posted.
He said he watched a biography of George and that it changed his opinion of him in the negative.

I posted this:
Nobody is perfect.
Well except one.

Sometimes when we put someone on a pedestal we only set ourselves up for disappointment when they fall.

RIP George
I received an warning for that.
I guess because it refers to Jesus.
The mod said it should have been an infraction but he was being nice.

Any of you got into trouble over there recently?

The mods seem very trigger happy.

Do they know you're a mod over here? What comes around, goes around. :)

I didn't get the reference to Jesus from your quote. I took it as an individual thinking (s)he is perfect and quick to judge others for their imperfections. That doesn't apply to me of course.

Anything that minutely registers as political, religious, war, etc... is on the radar. There's been too many "lawsuits", veiled threats, etc aimed at the TGP over the years. Ever since that happened you really have to think before you post or you get your hands slapped...or worse.

I got suspended for a week for questioning the authenticity of a 58 LP Junior over the serial # and some of it's "features". I felt since I own a 59 Junior that I knew enough about them to ask about that & why the seller hadn't posted it for sale at the Les Paul Forum.

So basically, I got suspended for asking for pics to authenticate, and why it wasn't for sale at the LPF.

Consequently, I cut back on my posting there, even though I was vindicated & validated later about my questions.

That is ridiculous (getting a warning for your innocuous post).

Absurd and ridiculous.

I literally got suspended for replying "Huh?" I was told it was inflamatory in the context which I had replied.

-huge rant deleted-

I soon banned myself. I abstain. Just say no effin way.

I'd rather have a go at a do it yourself lobotomy. If I am going to lose my mind, I'd rather it be with a dull steak knife than walking that arbitrary line.

Disrespectful bunch of asses adorned by a sub-moronic police state atmosphere. Woohoo!

Yeah, I should really stop going there.
But it is about the best gear related forum......... just really paranoid.

I understand the no religion policy but I thought I worded it pretty carefully.

Too much noise for me and I no longer have the attention span required to read a thread with more than 200 posts in it.

...Ooops, do they have a universal default policy? Can I be banned from TGP for expressing my opinion in other forums?

I dunno. The government probably thinks we are a terror cell, with all this babble about rockets and trains wrecking.

You mean the same folks that gave us Fast-N-Furious ..... gave guns to violent drug cartels on an relatively undefended border? The same folks that figure the best way to get out of a monstrous national debt crisis is to increase the debt by a factor of five? Those folks?

They might think, in their curious way of thinking, we're worse than a terror cell. They might think we are capitalists.

They are just people. They put their pants on one leg at a time. The only difference is when they get their pants on, it's our pants.. anyone seen my wallet.. and they make hit records. Fellas, they need more cowbell.. the government has a fever, and the only perscription is more cowbell.

You know, that isn't a bad idea... I envision a sea of perfectly relaxed people beating the stew out of cowbells all across the land..

Let freedom clunk!

Did you tell them that you were referring to Eric Clapton?

Or perhaps Howard Alexander Dumble???

So many choices... it all depends on context.

No offense to you intended, Structo. BTW, I, too, am a huge fan of George Harrison and respect whatever private life he may have had.

All the best to everyone - no exceptions.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you alarm me. I was happy to go along with mo' cowbell until I visualized the scene of a sea of perfectly relaxed people beating the stew out of cowbells all across the land...

I should have hit <MUTE> first.

I was thinking that too but I'm not sure that it is available at the bar.
