I listened to all three--honestly, I liked the Bassman best.

How come the lonely Tele didn't get plugged in? :)

Wow! Classy gear for the non-touring musician. Unless you have equally classy, white-gloved roadies to carry your gear…

Seriously. I took my Rocket Dog out to a gig on Saturday, and the whole time I was aware of it like it was a baby human. "Ooh…look out, there, don't bump into the door frame. Watch the edges. Careful, now. Hey, buddy, no touching unless you wash your hands first."

I generally ding my own amps at least once before they ever leave the room!

And a Strat too--if you have one.

This is a great way to compare the amps. When I see/hear demos on youtube, I always wonder how much of it is the amp and how much is the recording setup. The way you did it, I can hear each amp with the same mic selection, etc.

All are nice amps but if I was in a store demoing them side by side like this, I think I would be gravitating towards the Bassman with the 6v6 Express a close second.

I know this is the type of comparison I like to see myself, straight in to the amps, same mic (video recorder in my case) location for all.

The Express is pretty much a hard rock amp, does it well though! The Bassman is in the middle with quite a bit of grind on tap. The Rocket really shines with single coil pickups, I'll have to do the Tele tonight...

Same opinion here Jana...

Larry: you've got good chops. That makes any demo a pleasure to listen to and your narrative is just right. (You ever wade through a demo where the player goes on for 2 or 3 minutes about this setting and that? Yuk!) Except for your skinny legs, those are great demos :P Congratulations!

I have learned that I'm not an Express kind of guy. I liked all three. I thought the Rocket was most versatile of the three. I was surprised at the amount of grind you milked out of the Bassman. Great job, and really appreciated!

All sounded good. However, I really liked the Bassman tone ALOT! That amp sounded more transparent and articulate to my ears.

Nice amps.

I contemplated wearing pants and shoes but decided there had to be some entertainment value on the video side - albeit pastey!

I also want to do this same thing with open back. All of these cabs have a 2 or 3 part back so I can open them up. From what I recall, the Rocket and Bassman sound good either way, but the Express isn't as happy...

I gotta re-tolex the black cabinet with some blonde tolex for sure~!

In the 2x12 cabinet (Rocket) there is an 8-ohm Celestion Mesa MC90 and an 8 ohm Celestion Greenback (reconed to 50 watts by Weber many years ago). They are wired in parallel to 4-ohms because my OT in the Rocket only has that secondary.

In the 1x12 for the Bassman is a 16-ohm Celestion Mesa MC90.

In the 1x12 for the Express is a 16-ohm Celestion G12K-85.

Very nice work. I like all three. Bassman has nice drive and the Express has that mojo crunch. Craftsmenship looks nice.
