any comments on CeriaTone DC30?

Post by surfneptune »

I play in a surf band and the other guitar player and I have been using Blackface Showman amps, We have both been interested in a Class A clean sound, and the DC30 model looks pretty interesting.

Has anybody here ordered a completed Dc30 amp from CreiaTone?

Thanks in advance.

Ceriatone DC30

Yes I have...and it is awesome. I play a 18W Marshall, JTM 45 and the DC30.

It has a sparkly crisp sound clean that just oozes tone. It sounds amazing with a tele or strat. It coats each note with harmonics and sounds like the best recordings I have heard. Makes the Marshall 18W seem ordinary.

Channel 2 with the EF86 is very gainy and gives the classic crunch tones not like marshall crunch but very balsy and great for rock.

I have Mullard 12AX7s which are ace. Give 3D sound. Also EF86 is Philips Dario Miniwatt....Great. Power tubes are JJ/Tesla... Best tube for the price.

I play through Celestion Blue and G12H30 in series at 16 Ohm load.

Sounds like the best amp youve ever heard. No Joke!!!!!

I am getting a trainwreck for my mad moments. Has anyone got views on the ceriatone Kit??

Thanks for the reply, there are three reviews on harmony central... and a stray post here and there, but I have yet to find a negative comment on the DC30 amp.

I know what you mean about a 3D quality, and all the good words about the clean tone, has me encouraged that it will sound great playing surf music. I cant wait, mine shipped yesterday...

I got it Friday, opened it up, tubed it, turned it on and it worked great. A cab builder friend is going to do a short run of head cabs for a small group of friends.

I am very impressed so far with this amp. Great clean tones, and wonderful distorted tones that can be coaxed into a womanish sound during solos. Great note to note separation when driven, but I like it for the clean tones, With the rotary tone selector on the EF86 channel, I could fatten up the back pickup of my strat to sound beefy yet maintain the twang. The real test will be with the band.

What's with the rubber bands around the tube, does it dampen feedback?

I'm glad you like the amp...

The bands around the tubes are silicone rings that add mass to the tube in the hopes of reducing microphonics. Most likely, you'd just need this on your EF86...
