I had an old AWV PA Amplifier laying around - cathode biased 6CA7 outputs for about 35W.
Did some minor mods to the output stage (replaced the 70V line OT with a spare 50W Marshall OT) but rebuilt the entire front end to the Trainwreck A0 circuit.
That left me with a spare half of a 12AX7.
What I did with that was parallel the input 12AX7 triode with a "twist".
Used a common 47K anode load for the 2 triodes.
47K grid stop to the 1st triode with "standard" 1K5 + 22uF cathode circuit.
10K from that 1st triode grid grid to the second section grid and biased that second section "colder" with 3K3 + 470nF in the cathode.
No more gain or less noise BUT a lovely harmonic emphasis from the parallel triode with the colder bias. I like it a lot.
Cheers,
Ian
Something for you to try??

Re: Something for you to try??
that would technically be a common anode mixer.
sounds like a cool experiment though.
I wonder what would happen if you cold clipped one side.
