OK...I only took about 20 pics. I have them all posted here

Notice the diodes on the power tube sockets in an arc. very cool stuff!

BTW...the PT I got from Moose is exactly the same AND the B+ voltage is the same on both amps 394 VDC

Hi Guy's,
I was looking over the pictures and I see alot of taped and shrunk off taps on both the power and output transformers..........must have been off the shelf stuff.......The cloth covered leads on the power transformer look like Stancor to me :D . Any ideas on how old they might have been?

I don't remember seeing any markings on either transformer. As I stated in my previous post the PT was almost identical. The original was a little sloppier looking but otherwise they looked as if they were manufactured by the same company.

We had limited time with her, about 3-4 hours and she needed some maintainence although minimal it still took some time away from what we were able to accomplish. Basic voltages, pics and minor maintainence was about all we had time for plus some playing time.

If we get to clone her then we will be able to scrutinize the tranny's a bit more. I've got my fingers crossed.

The OT _definitely_looks like Triad. Grey paint and all. I dont know enough about Stancor to recognise it based on the cloth wires... All the Stancor transformers I've see have been Fenders and mounted thru the chassis.

This must be a very early amp, considering the description of a ply cabinet and the mixed transformers.

Cool!

If you look at the pics on photobucket.....there is one pic of the chassis where it says "Francesca 85" stamped with letter punches by hand.

I took it to mean 1985 which would be pretty early. He only started in 84 if I remember correctly from his old site.

I've zipped up the pictures and put them in the Files section under Pictures of Trainwrecks. Enjoy!

Great pics. That's interesting. Looks like a Funk wired amp but it has all the same style pot cans and old trannies. Maybe he started helping Ken earlier than later.

I thought he was only authorized service. I didn't know he actually built some amps.

I think Nat bought this amp used through KF though that doesn't tell us if DF or KF built it. I'll have to ask Nat about it again but I'm pretty sure he said he bought it from Ken!

I'm not sure on that but that's kinda what it looks like. I'm kinda suprised to see all Mallory orange drops in an amp from '85 too.

Hi guys,

Allyn just emailed me this pic of another type 2 Express. This IS what Francesca looked like. The corner joints on the cab were different though and Francesca was made from ply but the faceplate is identical I think!

Here is the pic Image

actually, I think that *is* Franchesca... Take a look at the faceplate image. Unless Ken used the same image twice, it appears to be a large Phoenix or similar bird ... The same as the close-up pics of the faceplate you guys took.

Sorry, after looking at the pics and paying attention the OT doesn't look like an old one.

Hi all, that is the same as the one we had. The cherry veneer covered the front edges just like that picture. Some of the veneer was stripped from the top and all the veneer from the front edge. The box was constructed with locking a dado joint covered with cherry veneer. If it wasn't the same one it was it's sister! Alternatively, it could have had the tranny replaced by KF before it was sold or resold to Nat. I believe Nat told us that his father was a friend of Ken Fisher and was brought by Ken's shop by his father. He wanted a Rock and Roll amp and his father bought this one from Ken. It sat in his fathers attic for about 12-15 years. It may have been revamped by Ken after getting it back or Ken may have taken parts from this one to make others and used what he had to finish this one for Nat. It is so funny that Greg and I took so many pics and didn't take one before we took it apart and after searching my Trainwreck pictures, I may have had an original pic. The good news is...Nat said we could borrow it or he would come down again.
