Well gentlemen....It's about 1am. Nat left about 11:30pm.

First...a little info about his baby. Her name is Franchesca and her birthdate is 85. She has been in a car accident and is a bit bruised on the outside but otherwise looked pretty good. She is in an older style ply cab.
Chassis is as our site drawings. Schem is as the "Kelly 90" schem here on the site. I did take some pics and will post them in a couple of days.

Nat is a really nice guy and has some intrest in having the amp cloned, so I will hopefully be getting to know her better in the future.

Now for the thing everyone is wondering about. She sounds amazing. Very responsive. Definately likes 412 cabs best. Mine came VERY close to sounding as good. I think a little tuning and I will be there.

Some very interesting stuff to report is that the amp had a chassis cover plate. In the middle of it there was a wooden stand off with a bolt going ALL the way through the chassis. The standoff was glued to the cover plate. There was also a wooden standoff between the transformers. Pots had NO identifying print on the that we could see. Our best guess would be Centra-Lab modular style pots. Values were not there either. Very tidy wiring job. Odd type of turretts. I forget what they are called but they are like a spade terminal sticking up from the board. Jon new what they were. I will ask him tomorrow.

I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

Thanks

Greg

Greg,
Thanks for the report. I think I speak for all of us here by saying we're waiting on the edge of our seat for the pics. I can't wait!

No Problem guys. For all the help I get from you guys...it's the least I can do.

A couple of things I forgot to mention last night about my own amp. I made a couple of mistakes which account for some excess noise and lots of extra gain. They are:

A)I left out the negative feedback wire going from the 8 ohm tap on the impedence selector switch to the Presence pot with a 100k resistor in line connected at the pot (and shrink wrapped). A MAJOR ommission causing the amp to be far different than normal. My bad!

B)After installing the neg feedback it was necessary to reverse the OT secondary wires to the output tube sockets. No biggie

C)After these corrections were made the amp had some extra 60 cycle hum due to the fact that I did not reference the OT secondary to ground.

With these things corrected I was set. I still have the .0047 coupling cap between the 2nd and 3rd stages. I have to change it back to the .0022 and see what the amp does.

I left my camera at my office so pics will have to wait till tonight or tomorrow.

Again I would like to thank you guys. Without this site I would not have a KILLER Wreck clone.

Hi all, just got back from HeeBGB's late night TW Party
4 hours each way and worth every minute! The TW was named Francesca and it was made in 85-86'. After taking it apart  Yes, he let us  We took lots of pics and blueprinted the whole amp. It sounded great! After greg spent some time comparing changing some connection, he's got what I think is the most comparable TW I've heard to date! We A/B'd them and they are as close as close can be. Greg won't say that (humble boy!) But ask anyone there will tell you it is as close as I've ever heard!

We took over a hundred or so pics. I will Upload them in a zip file to Omar and he can put them where they belong. Meanwhile, Gentlemen, Meet Francesca...

You guys are the best! Thanks for generously sharing your information with the forum, Greg, Allynmey and David Hicks(Kelly 90)!!

I'll look forward to some more photos and hopefully some clips. Seeing Ken's work is very interesting. What kind of OD's are those?

The only thing is...niether Allyn or myself took a shot of the amp before we took it apart OR when we put it back together. So I don't believe we have a cabinet shot. STOOPID amp guys!

What can I say? excitement ruled the night! I think we were afraid to wait and take a chance on Nat changing his mind! BTW, Nat is a great guy to talk to and a great musician. We thoroughly enjoyed his company!

Hi Guy's,
Thank-you very much for the photo's .........can't waite to see the rest.
The thing that gets me is as far as pre-amp layout goes the guy's from years ago where right on .So many guy's around different sites said you could never get it right (ha) I also remember someone said Ken didn't use sheilded wire......well there it is in plain site. Well I guess they wanted to keep it a mystery as long as possible..........keep the prices up.

One question though.....how did you guy's get him to show you the guts?
Thanks again the photo's :D

I nominate Allenmey and HeeBGB to god status of this board!!! You guys rule!!! Wow, this is a huge break through!

If you don't mind you could post the zip file here on the board. I'm pretty sure we're fine on disk space. Email me if you prefer to send it via snail mail.

Thanks again guys!

Actually, David Hicks is the breakthrough guy. We're only confirming his work. As far as the pics and the access to Franchesca....we owe our gratitude to two people that are not members of this board. The first is Jon T. who is a member of the 18 watt forum and a friend of mine AND HIS guitar teacher Nat Janoff the owner of Franchesca. Nat had the forsite and the ears to buy Franchesca 15-20 years ago when he was a teenager.

Let's not forget Omar who runs this board. Without his dedication this info wouldn't be available to any of us.

As far as Allyn and myself....we love this stuff so it's not like we have to go out of our way.

Thanks guys

Greg

PS-I am at my office right now and will post some more pics tonight when I get home with my camera.

Omar, I can mail you a CD. The pics I have are 137MB Zipped!
Add Greg's and I think we will all be in good shape! The Owner of the Trainwreck Nat, is a super nice guy and hung out 'til almost midnight as we poked and prodded his prized possesion. We discussed cloning one for him to use for gigging. No one wants to leave a $15,000+ amp on a stage in a club unattended. I will pick out a few pics showing the full inside and post them here for those foaming at the mouth and don't want to wait for Omar to get and upload pics.
