Hey Guys a couple Questions the BN amp calls for a High Cut 500 KB-SPST and the Tone pot is a 500KB.I used a 500KA audio SPST on the cut and and just a Alpha 500k for the tone pot.Is it possible I used the wrong Pots. This amp isnt right yet,I dont have the notch switch right yet either so its not working at all.
Next question ,is the tiny caps for the notch switch a special series I need to ask for? .0047, .047 ,.02, .01.Im going to be needing to get more as well as the 5.1 M 1/4 watt resisters
Next question is a 150 5 watt, one measures 150K and the others reads 150 ohm on the meter. Now those are 2 diff values correct?? At this point the amp is up in the air on how it will sound,I have to say the kit Moss sold is a really nice sounding amp.I think I am OK with the layout and the chassis I used. But I think I may have some issues with some parts. The amp has some off beat values that are a bit hard to find like the 500uf 50 v cap was a pain to get as well as some of the pots.Well it aint over yet so Ill keep trying to get this amp right,Thanx Guys ,Mikey

150 5watt equals 150 ohms at 5watts. or 150R/5W.

The switching caps should be rated at least 400-600v.

Tone pot is 500kA audio pot.

The hi-cut pot is 500kL linear pot

You are using an EF86 preamp tube right?

Resistors

Post by ampmike »

OK I ordered the correct pot,Im hoping that the other one is the culprit for the crappy sound. Now When I ordered 5.1 M 1/4 watt resinster [Green Brown Green}They sent me 5.1 k [Green Brown Red} Will those work on the notch switch??Im having a problem finding the 5.1m.I think it is just a value capable of stopping the signal bleed between caps on that switch,Thanks Guys Ill wait to hear from you"SMikey

ampmike, mouser has 5.1mohm resistors, here is a list of 5.1mohm resistors in stock (they have about 50,000 in stock so they won't run out any time soon!):

http://www.mouser.com/Passive-Component ... or&FS=True

These are 5.1M 1/4watt 700 volt for $0.12 by vishay, a name many here like and use:

I hate ordering from mouser but I need about 40 of those 22m resistors for all the Dumble builds in progress.

Mikey I seriously doubt the pot is responsible for the problems your having but still you do need to get that correct pot anyway. Need to carefully point by point go over your amp following the layout carefully for any wiring errors and loose or non soldered joints.

Incorrect component values as well.
