Re: EV Force 12
The Force 12 shares some components with the EVM12S (not L).
The main difference being the smaller magnet and the standard round wire 2.5" voice coil.
I've been a long time EV user and have a few Force 12s and 10s around here somewhere.
It's no EVM but it's a good reliable guitar/PA speaker.
The Force series give up some efficiency but have a somewhat similar sound to the bigger magnet versions, just a bit more compressed.
Some of the OEM versions have the flatwire edgewound voice coils, but these are not marked "Force".

Re: EV Force 12
It may be a stretch to remember but you heard one years ago in my little bitty Dumble type head/cab. I've since moved the 2 I own to PA monitors.jon wrote:Any thoughts on these. just scored one on eBay for $99.00 plus shipping.
They sound pretty neutral like EVMs but not quite as clean and transparent. Decent speakers.
Re: EV Force 12
I can't speak about the 12" but I got a EV Force 10 on Craigslist and put it in a little closed back cab thinking I may have a nice little extension cab for my Dumble heads that can handle some heat. But it turned out not so good and too grainy sounding for that purpose.
It is great for burning in my amps under a pillow (about the best I can say about it).

Re: EV Force 12
The EV FORCE speakers can't be bad, for sure... I never had one in hands, but I know that it has been installed in 10" version in the famous Fender Super Champ Deluxe.
The ones I own are the EVM12L original vintage ink-stamped label and the EVM12L BlackShadow built for Boogie : both are premium quality guitar speakers... nearly unbeatable in tone width, absence of breakup and efficiency, nontheless having an excellent deep, responsive tone... Putting most of the Celestions somewhat in the PittBull range !
A+!

If it works, don't fix it...

Re: EV Force 12
Hey sell out,
I had one of these for like 15 years put it through hell with both guitar and bass and it took everything ever thrown at it - my closest tone ref would be those old JBL's that were clean and bright or even the Celstion Lead 80 - and with a very very late break up.. loved it on bass and with high gain amps, but not so much with other more vintage sounding heads - not that it wasn't good but any break up you get is from the head not the speaker.. finally let it go needing money but I really got my bang for the buck on that one!
Congrats on the score

If any of you guys live near me, and want to demo a Force, I have a 12" 8 Ohm in a cab.

Re: EV Force 12
I got the speaker and like it a lot in my 1X12. I just got a Reason Elite 2X12 and I need a companion. Any thought on a speaker that would compliment it nicely.
Re: EV Force 12
How about an EV Force 12?
Come on... you were all thinking it.
To answer this question what is you like about the way the EV force 12 sounds? If you can find a frequency chart for the EV Force 12 you could compare it to other speakers and decide if you want another speaker that adds to the frequencies of the EV or contrasts and fills in where the EV lacks.

I have one that I just use in a 1x12 to "test" amps with. If you are really in need, I would sell it to you. Though, I bet shipping will be 35-50 dollars. (properly packed and double boxed)jon wrote:If I could find another I would
It is a re-cone by Neal's. http://nealspeakerrepair.com/
