Hello All,
I was led here from another forum, they mentioned this is where the true amp experts reside.
I am planning to build a Weber 6S100 for bass with around twice the power. I want to add two (maybe 4) kt88s as simply as possible without changing the circuit more than necessary.

so my question, if I use bigger transformers for example:
the Hammond 379x PT
http://www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/EDB379WX.pdf
and the Hammond 1650W OT
http://www.tubesandmore.com/scripts/...?item=P-T1650W
or the Weber wot300

could i run this amp with 4 kt88's (or maybe 6) at double the power without reinventing the circuit?? I may need to up the voltage of the filtering as well...

Why not build the Weber Bass amp kit the AB200?

Re: 200 Watt Weber 6S100 Questions...
too much going on in that amp...I feel like it would be more work stripping the AB200 down than building a s100 to produce 200ish watts. I want it to be simple, basically want to build a 1000s cloneish amp. I love the old late 60s sunns.

Re: 200 Watt Weber 6S100 Questions...
It depends on what you expect from the amp. The AB200 is designed to not break up in the poweramp, low impedance driver via the driver transformer. If you do not mind that 'vintage' distortion, then you can scale up the simpler designs. Have fun!

Re: 200 Watt Weber 6S100 Questions...
break up is just fine...I love a little hair, plus I am a guitar player and it will probably be used for guitar more than bass, just really want the extra headroom when i need it.
I plan on running a Baxandall tone stack similar to a SVT, and probably remove the master volume. I just mainly want to know if those transformers will be right for the job and if all i need to do is up the OT and PT and throw in two more tubes. what about 4 more tubes? maybe two chokes like the 2000s to keep the lowend tight? should i run 4 220uF power filter caps in series to up the voltage handling? and maybe stacked 47uF screen filter caps as well?
thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

The Hammond PT is 450mA so that would work for your project.
The Hammond OT should be rated for 100watts and I did not check that as the link goes no where.
The Weber OT is 300watts.
You said you are going to run 4 KT88's so 100w to 150 watt amp is what your planning on? Never mind your subject title said 200w.
Probably should up to 500mA and get 200w rated OT. Weber should have both of those or Edcor transformers.
