I just read in Kevin O'Conners TUT3 (p4-12) that the power transformer should be mounted with the bells pointed toward the front and back of a chassis since the bells will be the highest leakage from the transformer. So I go into my designs and start changing the layout of my transformers and realize that every amp I ever built has the power transformer with the bells pointed right to left instead of front to back. Then I start looking at all of my marshall amps and they are the same way - bells point right/left on chassis.
Anybody ever messed with this? Is this splitting hairs? I understand the 90 degree orientation of power to output transformer but do the bells really present a concern?

I don't think a Super Reverb can be like this if the bells are pointed up and down.Prairie Dawg wrote:I've got a Super Reverb that ain't like that. I think he's picking the fly s**t out of pepper myself.

Re: Power transformer Orientation
I tried orienting my end bells out so they did not face toward the OT but made no difference.
Probably because I allowed the correct spacing when mounting the PT the with end bell facing the OT and choke.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
...though I have to concur, usually the lowest noise induction happens when you align the PT lams with the OT bells.
