I bought a SLO set from him a year ago almost, completed it fully (including tons of mods) just yesterday, works perfectly. PCB is very well made, even better than most retail manufacturers.

I just put an order for an uberschall set, hopefully will finish it by march ( having 2 Jobs sucks)

To properly clone the SLO the best you can (iron is not available) it's over $1600 a correct SLO can be found for $2000 with correct iron and tone.

Anyone ever built the MKII ampclone kit? For $90 for chassis and boards that is a good price?

Mark I was looking at getting a MKIIC+ from ampclones but I have one concern that I have to check into. My concern is on the graphic EQ will I have any problems tracking down the sliders, Slider knobs and inductors that will fit the board they provide ?
Other then that I think the MKIIC+ was a workhorse in the studios and recordings for many years. A perfect amp tone to amp to my studio rentals.
I feel the amp had a certain crunch thing happening that other boogies dont.
Antoher note I think if I am correct the MKIIC+ was wired in triode.

I saw those sliders somewhere can't remember where. I think all parts are available but not sure how closely this board kit follows the real amp.

Do they have a forum or file sharing for the schematic and layout?

Unlike a bunch of these pcb companies PCB Universe does not require you to use their proprietary software so you don't get locked into just one PCB manufacture. They take Gerber files.

Price wise there are lots of PCB companies offering super cheap boards, but I found for the cheap price they wont build to your specs. You get one color choice, green, 1/2 oz copper, and thinner board. PCB Universe lets me order a 10 count, this is the minimum order when they are making the boards to your exact specs. I am able to combine the power supply and preamp boards into one board with scoring so I actually get 20 boards for a 10 count price.

So for a .125 inch thick board with black solder mask both sides, silkscreen top, plated through holes, 2oz copper the price was $566.50 plus $87 next day air shipping. This was the 5 business day price, if you had the time to wait the 20 day price was $445. If one went with green and thinner boards again the price is less. The boards are manufactured overseas, PCB Universe has daily overnight shipments from them, you only pay shipping in the US.

Randall is exactly where I got the idea for these boards, I exchanged email with him a while back thanking him. Oh jeeze a great many hours over 6+ months. A maddening process I'm glad its over but looking at these boards I'm glad I kept plugging away when the design didn't feel right.
