I bought 50' of 14 gauge from the car stereo section at Wally World . It's nice to work with.

I can tell you that my speaker wires are larger than the skimpy wires that come in most speaker cabs.
There is a limit to how large you need to go for such a short run as what we are talking about though.
For combo I use a molded angle plug with 3 feet of wire you can buy them form several sources. Otherwise I use 16 gauge mostly, I like the zip cord best but usually I just twist a black and white pair of wires.

I was appalled one time when I took the back off of a 100w Marshall 412.
It looked like 20 gauge wire hooked up to the speakers and jack.
While that is probably is adequate, I always liked a fat pipe for my speaker wire.
So I run at least 14 gauge from speaker to speaker and to the jack.
