Eric Clapton Signature Amp Line...
The Fender EC Twinolux (2x12”)... one of Eric Claptons' new Signature Amps. http://www.fender.com/products/clapton
I'm definitely itching to build something "Tweedy".
Low-Powered Twin with tremolo and attenuator. Correct?
Cheers,
Rob

Yes, tryly hand-wired unlike some other that make that claim, and they look great. Street prices are 3k for the Twin, 2k for the Tremolux, and 1k for the Vibro-Champ.

Yea, great minds... Seriously those seem pretty fair given the USA hand labor involved.ampmike wrote:Sorry, Martin we must have been posting at the same time about prices

Suprized to see the assembly workers all wearing gloves.
It must be an OSHA requirement or something.
Much more difficult to wire an amp up with work gloves on.

I wonder if they are using lead-free solder.Cantplay wrote:Suprized to see the assembly workers all wearing gloves.
What other hazards might they be trying to avoid?
Re: Eric Clapton Signature Amp Line...
Notice how the sockets are mounted and tubes installed before the circuit board is installed. Personally, I don't usually solder my tube pins while the tubes are in the sockets. I doubt Leo would do that. Any thoughts on that practice?

The gloves might be for protection from burns. Tubes in means no danger of plugging a socket up when soldering.

At the end of the video, did you see the nifty cage they put around the tubes?

I was looking for the cage in the shop pics... People can't be trusted to avoid touching hot objects!
Re: Eric Clapton Signature Amp Line...
MSRP on the twin thingy is $4.199.99.

I always solder the sockets with tubes installed--I use old tubes with straight pins. That way I know that all the contacts are lined up properly. For some contacts it won't matter much but for some of the contacts, such as pins 4 and 5 for the heaters, the cathode follower tube, etc., that helps the contacts have proper alignment.

Thats for CE compliance. It's the law for exported amps and may become required in the states eventually.Phil_S wrote:At the end of the video, did you see the nifty cage they put around the tubes?
