trash day!

Post by buckjazz »

I have a buddy who runs the local landfill and transfer station. He hooks me up with amp finds and lots of tubes. I just received a epiphone comet ea-32rvt from him. The amp needs a lot of attention, so I was wondering if the PT would work for a SS rectified 2 el84 Rocket?

Actually after testing voltages i may be able to go tube rectified.

My friends worked at the local trash haulers as well and I used to get a bunch of old tube amps and guitars from these guys. They no longer work in the trash industry, rats :!: :)

EA32-RVT = GA15RVT. With 120VAC in, this amp should provide about 310VDC through a solid state full wave bridge. The PT probably puts out around 225-0-225 with a load. Not sure what you can tell from what you got, but it had solid state rectification, pair of EL84 and three 12AX7/6EU7. I'm guessing it is just about right for a rocket.

Cool find. I found a '58 Princeton at a thrift store that the owner had found in a dumpster. I traded him an Acoustic 50 watt combo for it. Sometimes you get lucky!

Check out my thread on my GA-15RVT for the mods I did. I love the way mine sounds. Lots of mids and warm too (odd for a gibson).
Current rig, Modified Yamaha EG-112 with filter-tron knock offs - dyna comp - '60's White Face Gibson Explorer amp , modded.
